July’s meeting of MyTime Over Fifties began with a talk “Humour in retirement.”

Mr David Berry gave us an hour of laughter and pathos.

He likened retirees as recycled teenagers – unable to get up in the mornings and doing very little in the day.

We were informed that we need to learn about biological changes in the ageing body and given a long list – we certainly could relate to some if not all of them. Retirement was once defined as the moving from work to doing nothing, but now is regarded as a new and exciting time. In between these serious observations we were regaled with many a joke or poem. A thoroughly enjoyable meeting. The group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 2pm in the Amblecote Room at Stourbridge Town Hall.

Come and join us for interesting speakers and new friendships. The next meeting is on Wednesday, August 26 when Penny Wheat’s talk is entitled “Writing to prisoners in jail”. For more information phone Graham 01384393483 or Audrey 01384 864223.
