ONE Stourbridge man chose an unusual way to celebrate his 40th birthday after jumping out of a plane to raise funds for Kemp Hospice.

Anthony Wilson was inspired to take the leap for the Kidderminster-based hospice after Kemp supported his mum Julia when she fell ill last year.

In Julia’s final days the charity provided ‘Hospice at Home’ care so that she could fulfil her wish of staying at home.

Antony said: “We were so grateful to the hospice team for ensuring that mum could stay at home, they made this possible and so it was good to be able to give something back.

“It was a fabulous day and my family were there to support me. It was great to feel part of a team as nine other people were also jumping on the day to raise money for Kemp Hospice.

“I was nervous, but I absolutely loved the jump and wanted to do it again as soon as I’d landed! It was definitely a day to remember.”

Antony raised £1,345 which will support Kemp's work in helping patients maintain independence and provide assistance to those with life limiting illness.

Shelley Stanley, Kemp fundraiser, said: “We are very grateful to Antony for his efforts and we want to thank all his friends, family and work colleagues who generously sponsored him.”
