A NORTON church is inviting local residents to give church a try at a special service this Sunday.

St Michael’s Church, in Maynard Avenue, is aiming to entice the public at an event taking place at 10am on Sunday, September 20.

The special service – open to all members of the community, including children – will start with a light breakfast.

Church spokesman, Peter Dyson, said: “Lots of people have a connection with the Church of England but we think they may need a special in invitation to try church now that autumn is here.

“We promise a lively service with activities for the whole family.”

The church is also hosting an Alpha Supper on Thursday September 24, at the Community House (the old vicarage), in Westwood Avenue.

After sharing a free meal, The Rev Nick Kaleniuk will explain what Alpha is all about as well as hosting a discussion where attendees can share their thoughts.

For more information about the events, or to book a place at the Alpha Supper, call Peter Dyson on 07527 766512.
