BLACK Country singer/songwriter Gary O'Dea has celebrated the release of his latest album.

The Tipton based acoustic artist launched the new offering Fly, at Katie Fitzgerald's on September 6, on his own label Gojo Music.

Tracks on the album, which was recorded at Katie Fitzgerald's and co-produced by Eddy Morton of folk band The Bushburys, range from easy going acoustic folk pop melodies to fusions of funk and Bhangra, soul, blues and jazz.

Gary's first recording - produced by Martin Stephenson of Martin Stephenson and The Daintees - was released in 2006 to critical acclaim.

And he followed up the success in 2007 by making his previous back catalogue (released on Birmingham's Anew Music label) available through Gojo Music - including his CD album Love Hounds and Fortune Cookies and the CD EP Sittin' on your Fence featuring Steve Gibbons, PJ Wright and Gary Lammin.

But at the end of 2008 - Gary, who has toured the UK many times and played gigs in the States, began what was to be the start of a three-year sabbatical from music.

In 2011, however, he began dipping his toe back in the musical water and played his first solo gig in three years.

Further outings followed in 2012 and the release of Looking Forward by Thinking Back, a reworking of some of his back catalogue; and throughout 2013/14 he was playing consistently across the country.

Towards the end of last year he finally began work on the new album which is now available to buy online from http://garyodea-gojomusic.bandcamp.com
