GRIEVING Stourbridge sisters say they received an “unbelievable” response after issuing a plea to trace four Good Samaritans who tried in vain to help save their dad’s life after he stopped breathing at his home.

When retired fishmonger Bob Griffith fell unconscious in his chair at his Worcester Street home on November 7 his wife Pam raised the alarm in the street and two couples rushed in to give CPR to try and revive him.

Despite their efforts, however, 67-year-old Mr Griffith was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived at the scene.

But daughters Anna Griffith and Kate Green said they never had chance to thank the two kind-hearted couples who rushed to help and they made a plea through the Stourbridge News to try and find them.

Within a couple of days the Good Samaritans had come forward – enabling Anna and the family to issue a heartfelt thanks for their efforts to try and save multiple sclerosis sufferer Mr Griffith, who used a mobility scooter and was known around the town as “a real character”.

She said: “The response has been unbelievable. Again the people of Stourbridge have pulled together to help one another. The story was shared numerous times online and this is the reason we have been able to find our guardian angels.”

She said being able to trace the couples had brought “much comfort” to the family and she added: “We have now been able to thank them personally with flowers and a letter of thanks.”

Mr Griffith, a grandfather-of-six, is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

His funeral will be held at Stourbridge Crematorium on Friday November 27 at 10.20am.
