STOURBRIDGE swimmers have gone an extra length to help homeless people this winter.

Members of Stourbridge Swimming Club took time off their training schedules to collect as many socks as possible for the ‘Highs and Lows’ Centre in Walsall.

The swimmers also donated clothing to the club's chosen charity, which provides people with specialist voluntary support.

Swimming Club spokeswoman Michelle Froggatt said: “We wanted to try and keep it as fun as possible and the response was fantastic.

“We collected several large bags of clothing to the point where we had to make two deliveries.”

Stourbridge embark on their Worcester Winter League campaign this weekend which is rapidly followed by the Worcester County Championships starting on Sunday, January 24.
