AHEAD of today’s Holocaust Memorial Day, Margot James MP honoured those who were murdered during the atrocities.

The Stourbridge politician signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment, which pays tribute to the extraordinary survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people.

Today marks the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history.

Ms James said: “Holocaust Memorial Day is an extremely important occasion and one that should never be forgotten.

“I strongly encourage everyone to take this day as an opportunity to remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust and to join members of my community in the fight against prejudice and intolerance.”

In the weeks leading up to Holocaust Memorial Day, as well as within the next few days, thousands of commemorative events have been arranged by schools, faith groups and community organisations across the country, remembering all the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.
