THREE men were lucky not to have been seriously hurt after the car they were travelling in ploughed into railings in Stourbridge.

The smash happened outside The Chequers Inn on Stourbridge Ring Road in Stourbridge at 10.20pm (Sunday).

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, a responder paramedic and paramedic area support officer to the incident where they found a car which had crashed into metal railings at the side of the ring road.

The occupants, three young men, were checked over at the scene. Two of the men suffered no apparent injuries while the third was treated at the scene for an arm injury and suspected minor head injury – and was taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Not only were the three men lucky not to have suffered serious injuries but it was extremely fortunate the car was stopped by the metal railings in front of the pub otherwise it could have been a completely different incident.”
