A NUMBER of activities for children of all ages are taking place at Dudley borough leisure centres during May half-term.

Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge is hosting a jam packed week between Monday May 30, and Sunday June 5, including trampolining, sea side crafts and swimming lessons.

The swimming pool, complete with slides, waves, bubble seat and rapids, is open every day, while those who like to boogie while they bob, a bondi-beat water disco will take place on Friday June 3 from 6.30 to 9pm.

Intensive junior swimming lessons for children age four and over will run from Tuesday May 31 to Friday June 3. Beginners who require armbands or swimming belts can join lessons starting at 9.30am and 10.30am with an improvers class for children who can swim up to 25m at 10am. The daily 30-minute lessons cost £20 for the four day course and must be pre-booked.

An hour-long trampolining session for tots aged under-five will run at 10am on Tuesday May 31 and costs £5 per child. A second 60-minute trampolining class for beginners aged five to 15 will be held at 11am and costs £6. Parents must be present at the lessons and classes must be booked in advance.

Crafty children aged five to 11 can get creative with seaside art on Tuesday May 31 from 11am. The hour long session costs £5 and must be booked in advance.

Alternatively, youngsters under the age of eight can crawl, step, or run their way around the soft play suite throughout the week. Qualified staff supervise the area, but parents must remain with their children. Entrance costs £2.50 per child and parents are asked to check opening times before their visit.

Over at Dudley Leisure Centre, children can enjoy ‘Bostin Bruce’ the fun inflatable aqua pool run, with obstacles and a challenge section with slide from 1.45pm to 2.45pm on Tuesday May 31 and Thursday June 2. Suitable for eight to 15 year olds who can swim 25 metres or more, the activity costs £3 per child and juniors can stay in the pool for a swim for just £1 extra afterwards.

Activezone offers a day of fun including dance mats, Nintendo Wii, multi skill activities, craft sessions, swimming and team games including football, rounders, basketball and badminton for just £20 per day.

Activezone will run on Tuesday May 31 and Thursday June 2 from 9am to 4pm and is suitable for children aged eight to 14.

Juniors under the age of 16 can also get a 50 per cent discount on a casual, no booking in advance basis, on courts for badminton, squash, 5-a-side football, netball and basketball.

Alan Lunt, strategic director at Dudley Council, said: “This half term Dudley Council is organising lots of fantastic activities across the borough.

“We offer a wide range of activities across our parks, leisure centres, nature reserves, museums and libraries to help keep children and their families active and occupied during the school holidays.”

Pre-booking at reception is recommended for most of the school holiday activities. Junior memberships cost £13 a month or £130 per year and are valid at Crystal, Dudley and Halesowen leisure centres. A 50 per cent discount is also available on most activities with an Options+ leisure discount card.
