CONSERVATIVE MEP Anthea McIntyre is hosting a question and answer session on the EU and forthcoming referendum in Stourbridge on Friday May 13.

The West Midlands MEP is staging the meeting at Old Swinford Hospital School, Heath Lane, in a bid to offer basic factual information about the pros and cons of the European Union and Britain's membership as she believes voters feel short of simple, reliable details.

Although Miss McIntyre has herself declared support for staying in the EU, she has pledged to offer only reliably-sourced and impartial information at the meeting - and to make it clear if she offers the audience opinion rather than fact.

The MEP has been holding similar gatherings across the region to talk about issues including the cost of EU membership, its effect on immigration and the potential impact of Brexit on trade and she said: "The questions asked show people really feel the need for more first-hand information to help their decision in this hugely important vote on June 23.

"We try to be as unbiased as possible and I think people appreciated that. If I cannot answer a particular question I will try to find the details and forward them later.

"This vital decision deserves a properly-informed debate and that is what we are trying to promote."

The meeting, organised with the support of Norton Conservative councillor Colin Elcock, will run from 6.30pm until 8pm.
