HER Majesty's headwear is of course much-talked about and much-publicised but perhaps a lesser known fact is that the woman responsible for her crowning glory hails from Stourbridge.

Over the last three decades Rachel Trevor-Morgan has built a thriving millinery business providing clients with the perfect hat or headpiece and among those is Queen Elizabeth II.

The monarch has worn Rachel’s hats to many high-profile events since 2006 including Royal Ascot, her 80th birthday celebrations at St Paul’s, her diamond wedding celebration at Westminster Abbey, and to meet George Bush in Washington.

And in 2014 Rachel was granted The Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty.

She has also designed hats for other members of the Royal family, including The Duchess of Cambridge, and has provided creations to top London retailers including Harrods and Selfridges.

Rachel, whose father - Reverend Basil Henry Trevor-Morgan - was vicar at St Thomas's Church in Market Street from 1959 to 1976, originally wanted to be an actress as a child and she later developed a keen interest in theatre costume.

It was her interest in drama, and her mother's love of hats, which led to her passion for millinery.

She started out selling her creations on a market stall in St Martins-in-the-Field. These days she operates from a 17th century studio in St James's, London.

Renowned for beautiful handwork and design and an understanding of the balance required for a hat to flatter and finish an outfit - Rachel, who now lives in London with her husband and three children, has collaborated with a host of respected designers and her headpieces have been featured on the covers and pages of the likes of top publications including Vogue, Elle, the Daily Mail and The Sunday Times.
