A FOLK legend whose career has spanned more than 40 years will be this month’s headline act at a Black Country club.

One of the elder statesman of folk, Vin Garbutt is bringing his gritty social comment and life observations to Stourbridge Folk Club on Thursday (June 23).

Inspired by the folk tradition at the beginning of his career, the singer-songwriter puts his song lyrics at the crux of his performance.

Preferring to be a big fish in a small pond, Vin is reputed to have said that he is not interested in becoming a big star, but in the area of music where he performs, there is no bigger.

As the “undisputed master of communicating with an audience”, every budding singer-songwriter has been told to attend one of his concerts before making their first public performance.

Renowned for his hilarious intros, Vin will be performing on the Katie Fitzgeralds stage from 8pm.

Tickets, costing £13.20, can be bought by calling the box office on 01384 485238 or 01384 374410, or by visiting www.ents24.com/stourbridge-events/katie-fitzgeralds/vin-garbutt/4247942
