A EURO debate due to take place at King Edward VI College in Stourbridge this morning (Friday) has been cancelled following the shocking murder of Labour MP Jo Cox in Yorkshire yesterday.
Top Tory MP Anna Soubry, Minister for Small Business, had been due to take on West Midlands UKIP MEP and borough councillor Bill Etheridge in a debate organised by Stourbridge MP Margot James ahead of next Thursday's EU referendum.
But in light of yesterday's brutal attack on 41-year-old Jo Cox, MP for Batley and Spen, all campaign events have been cancelled today.
Conservative MP Ms James tweeted: "I am so terribly sorry that Jo Cox has died. Assasinated by a mindless thug serving her constituents, it's so awful."

A hustings style debate at Chawn Hill Church, Stourbridge, which Home Secretary Theresa May had been due to attend last night, was also cancelled as news emerged of the horrific shooting and stabbing incident which unfolded as the young MP left a surgery she'd held for constituents.
Ms James added: "I'm not quite sure when we'll resume all this campaigning - not until Monday at the earliest and I hope it will be conducted in a better spirit from now on."
The MP is scheduled to be speaking along with MEP Bill Etheridge at a hustings style event at the Wilson Hall in Cradley on Monday night, organised by the Cradley Action Group. For more details go to https://www.facebook.com/CradleyActionGroupPhase1/
