STOURBRIDGE'S award-winning Side by Side theatre company is staging its annual show at Stourbridge Town Hall this week.

The group of actors with learning disabilities, who have won countless accolades and performed at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival six times to rave reviews, will be presenting Myth in Store from Wednesday June 22 to Saturday June 25.

Their 19th annual offering, the show is a retelling of the Greek myth of Persephone and the underworld - set in a 1930s department store.

Penned by the group's artistic director Sue Wallin, the production combines music, dance, comedy and drama to tell the story of a young girl enticed into the secret world of the sub-basement by a handsome stranger and how she must choose between her mother's love and her heart's desire.

Performances at the town hall, in the Crown Centre, start at 7.30pm on Wednesday June 22 and Thursday June 23 and at 2pm on Friday June 24 and Saturday June 25.

Side by Side, who have performed in Sweden, Prague and in Stratford-upon-Avon at both the Courtyard and Swan Theatre for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages Project, will also be taking Myth in Store to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August - in the hope of achieving yet more critical acclaim from top reviewers.

Tickets for the Stourbridge Town Hall show are available from The French Deli, Coventry Street, Stourbridge, or online at www.sbstcs.org
