Stourbridge Probus Club

The club met on June 21 at 12.20pm at Stourbridge Rugby Club. It was the 40th anniversary and several members had been invited.

The meeting started with the current president Norman Bryson handing over to the new lady president Barbara Smith. Her husband had held this position 20 years ago and she was pleased to follow in his footsteps.

Eric Greenwood then gave a short account of the history of the club. It had been set up by two retired Rotarians and he mentioned many old members names which were remembered by some of the current members.

The new president then made a short speech thanking everyone for coming and promising to do her best to be an efficient president.

There was then a quiz. Members had been asked to bring photos of when they were young and names had to be put to faces.

After an enjoyable lunch, the speaker John Snow entertained us with the wonderful world of cinema music and played music from the old shows. A vote of thanks was given by the president. There was then a toast to Probus.

The group are moving to a new venue starting next month at Hagley Golf and Country Club.

The club meets on the third Tuesday of the month. After lunch there is normally a speaker and several outings are arranged each year.

If any ladies or gentlemen are interested to come as a visitor or would like to be a member please contact the secretary Pat Grainger on 01384 394394442. You will be made very welcome.
