A MAN arrested after a suspicious package was found at a Stourbridge address - causing nearby homes to be evacuated and a major road closed - has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Hagley Road in Stourbridge was closed all afternoon on Saturday and into the early hours on Sunday (July 17) after a box containing a suspicious device was discovered at a house in Danford Close, Oldswinford.
Emergency services sealed off the area and evacuated several homes as a precaution but specialist bomb disposal officers later confirmed the device was “non-explosive”.
A 25-year-old man was arrested in Staffordshire in connection with the incident - but he has since been released on police bail “with strict conditions” until August 13 while investigations continue.
