STOURBRIDGE Theatre Company is celebrating the first anniversary of the launch of its cinema facility at the town hall with a free ticket giveaway.

Since its launch in the summer of 2015 with a live screening of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Hamlet, thousands of people have enjoyed the very best of national theatre being beamed live to the Crown Centre venue’s big screen.

The cinema also offers a ‘Monday Movie Matinee’ film on the first and third Monday of each month, starting at 1.30pm. These new release films have been attended by almost 3,000 people during the year who each got a free cup of tea with their film.

Developed as a joint partnership between Stourbridge Theatre Company and the town hall, the facility has seen shows broadcasted live from the best theatres in London as well as the internationally renowned Glyndebourne Festival onto a seven metre wide screen, while the Dolby sound system has brought a significant increase of visitors to the venue, who share an interest in live theatre and film.

Tim French, the theatre company’s chairman, said: “This has been a steep learning curve, both with the fine tuning of the technical equipment and also the choice of live events and films to show.

“We have tried to bring a varied programme of live events and are planning future events which we hope will expand the range on offer, including live music concerts, classical ballet, Shakespeare and all forms of theatrical drama.”

To mark the cinema’s first anniversary, the theatre company is giving away 20 pairs of tickets to any of the of the theatre or film events currently on sale.

To be in with a chance of winning one of the free pairs of tickets, you need to answer the following question correctly:
