ROCK climbing can be mastered by people from across the borough thanks to a new course starting at Stourbridge’s Crystal Leisure Centre.
The Dudley Council sports facility will run the classes at its indoor climbing wall under the supervision of a qualified instructor from September.
An hour long beginner’s course, suitable for those over the age of 16 with little or no experience, will run every Tuesday from September 6 until December 6 and teach participants the basics of climbing including the essential skills of rope work and belaying.
Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member responsible for leisure centres, said: “Climbing is fantastic exercise and a fun and challenging sport and these lessons are a great way to gain confidence.
“The courses fill up quickly so I would advise anyone interested to book on quickly.”
The 13 week course, which will not take place on Tuesday October 25, costs £88.40 and includes hire of harnesses and helmets. A 50 per cent discount is available for Options+ leisure discount card holders and payment needs to paid in full on enrolment.
