COUPLES looking for the perfect venue for their wedding are invited to an open day at Lye’s newly renovated Thomas Robinson building.

Now one of Dudley borough’s registry offices, the former Lye and Wollescote Chapels host the open day to give would-be brides and grooms the chance to find out what’s on offer.

Dudley Registrars are organising the event on Saturday, October 8, to allow couples to look around the recently refurbished building, as well as be in with the chance of winning a wedding.

During the event there will be demonstration ceremonies, bridal fashion shows, the chance to buy pre-loved gowns and meet wedding stationery, save the date cards, invitations and floral confetti sellers.

The venue’s new Wollescote Suite, which features much of the former chapel’s original Gothic architecture, can hold marriage parties in the region of 40 people.

Councillor John Martin, cabinet member for corporate transformation and performance, said: “The newly restored Thomas Robinson buildings provide a beautiful, historic and cost-effective venue for local couples hoping to tie the knot, with professional support both before and on the big day.

“These open days are always well attended by both exhibitors and prospective newlyweds and the free wedding competition means that one lucky couple will leave with a venue and hopefully a date in the diary.”
