Stourbridge Probus Club
The club met on October 18 at 12.30pm at Hagley Golf and Country Club and were made very welcome with an excellent meal. There were 31 members present.
The speaker gave a very interesting and humorous talk on "Upstairs and downstairs".
She talked about life many years ago and how badly the staff downstairs were often treated and then talked about life upstairs where things were very different pointing out that nannys and ladies maids were often neither upstairs nor downstairs but somewhere in the middle with a somewhat lonely life.
She illustrated her talk with pictures and tea towels. Her fee was donated to charity.
The club meets on the third Tuesday of the month. After lunch there is normally a speaker and several outings are arranged each year. In February it is a two day coach tour to the Cotswolds.
