THIS year will see the final ever Christmas Coffee Morning held at Mary Stevens Hospice’s Day Services Unit.

The Stourbridge charity’s annual free festive event, which is set to take place on Saturday, December 10, sees hundreds of families attend every year to support the hospice.

Between 10.30am and 2pm visitors can meet Santa and enjoy a slice of cake and a hot drink while children play Christmas games.

However, this year the Hagley Road hospice launched their largest ever fundraising campaign, in order to rebuild and expand the Day Services Unit which is currently full to capacity each day.

With that rebuild expected to start in spring next year, this will be the final Christmas Coffee Morning held in the current unit.

So to make the morning the biggest ever, the hospice is also putting on a festive market, which will give the local community the opportunity to enjoy local produce and get some Christmas shopping done.

Charlotte Schofield, head of fundraising at Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “The Christmas Coffee Morning is one of the events we look forward to most every year, as we absolutely love having the opportunity to invite all of our supporters to come and see us here at the hospice.

“It’s an odd feeling, knowing that this will be the last time we’ll ever see the current Day Services Unit transformed into a winter wonderland, however it gives us all the more reason to pull out all the stops and make this the best Christmas Coffee Morning we’ve ever done.

“We’ve already lined up some fantastic guests and activities, and we’ve even heard a rumour that someone very special is planning to travel all the way from the North Pole just to join us!”
