Stourbridge Choir and Orchestra

The group held their AGM recently. The music director, Martin Sleaford , opened his report by thanking all members for their hard work in performing three concerts. The first was a Christmas favourites held in the Furnace theatre. The second concert in March was tribute to Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary. We played Tchaikovsky’s ballet music and West Side Story. The third concert was held in July at Redhill school and we played Beethoven’s second and Schubert’s fifth symphonies. The choir sang Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus and his Te Deum.

Tony Bridgewater was happy to continue as President, Anthony Blackman as treasurer and Helen Heard was elected secretary. Mollie Berry continues as committee chairman.

Long service awards were presented for 5 years to Rob Green, Emily Walton and Kathryn Harding; 10 years to Veronica Rickard; 25 years to Nicky Dalton, 30 years to Rhona Rowe and 45 years to Mollie Berry.
