The week started with Stourbridge’s second team travelling to Brewood for a Wolverhampton division two match.
Brewood fielded a strong team and were in a promotion play-off last season, so this was always going to be a tough match. SCC’s slightly depleted team were out-graded across the boards but they did really well. Richard Wilkinson won on board 5, with Sam Bradley, Tony Shaw , Colin Woodall, and Chris Cox all getting draws to draw the match 3-3. This will be a valuable point in the battle to avoid relegation.
Greenlands brought what appeared to be a weak team on Wednesday for the Worcester and District Division 2 match. Stourbridge eventually won the match 3-1 with wins for in form Richard Wilkinson and Sam Bradley.
Stourbridge are now second in the table on on 5 points – won 2 drawn 1 and have a match in hand on leaders Worcester pawns who are on 6 points.
Stourbridge faced Warley Quinborne’s first team on Thursday in Wolverhampton division 1. This was going to be tough as Stourbridge were missing their top two players and Warley Quinborne had all their best players available.
Stourbridge lost 5-1 with reserves Jeremy Humphries and Ron Evans both playing well to draw their games.
