A STOURBRIDGE actor and director is on the lookout for Black Country talent to appear in his upcoming feature film.

Grant Murphy, director of Shellgrant Productions, is planning to shoot his first ever feature film around the region in late February and wants to give local people a chance to appear.

He said: “I plan to do a few scenes round Stourbridge and the majority of the cast in my film I want to be Birmingham or Black Country based.

“I know as a actor it’s very hard. Not much is made round here and whenever it is, most the actors are not local people. I want to change that.

“My main aim is to give local people a chance. There will be opportunities for extras, for people assisting with locations, and for local actors to audition.

“There are plenty of parts up for grabs. We will cast via Facebook, Twitter and various acting platforms and we may well do open casting calls round Stourbridge too.

“We are likely to start late February. My production company has recently been formed and were going to try and fund as much as we can ourselves.

“We hope to shoot a few scenes early to assist us in our crowd fund, and it may be that the film is done in bits if the funding does not go as planned, but all-in-all, we will get it finished this year.”

Last year, Grant directed a short film about depression entitled ‘Faith’ which has since won two awards, including a Los Angeles Film award for ‘best inspirational film’.
