Dudley South Ladies Luncheon

Chairman Mary Jones was delighted that 30 members and 1 visitor had braved the particularly cold and snowy weather to attend The Lodge, Wellington Road, Dudley on January 13. She wished everyone a healthy and happy new year and looked forward to seeing not only regular members but hopefully lots of visitors to see what a friendly club it is.

The traditional hot three-course lunch was once again excellent followed by speaker Ian Bott who delighted everyone with a nostalgic mystery tour of the Midlands. It began in 1960 with a charabanc setting off from St. Lukes Church, Wednesfield and then a whistle stop journey visiting Lichfield, Shugborough, Biddulph Grange, various castles, quaint Cotswold villages, the Black & White trail through Herefordshire and lovely Shropshire countryside illustrating just how beautiful the Midlands really is.

Members were reminded that the next luncheon would be on February 10 12 for 12.30pm at The Lodge which would include the AGM followed by speaker Bob Broadfield and his involvement with show business. March should be quite lively with entertainment by the Ukulele Group. Visitors will receive a warm welcome and can attend three times before deciding to join.
