Stourbridge Probus Club
The club met on January 17, 12.30pm at Hagley Golf and Country Club and were made very welcome with an excellent meal.
There were only 19 members present.
The speaker was Mr Singh who is the regional fundraising manager for Dr Barnados in the West Midlands, South West and the Channel Islands. He gave us a 20 minute video telling us about the 8500 homes. Last year was its 150th anniversary Dr Barnardo himself died in 1905 but the charity flourishes.
It has 700 charity shops one of which in Stourbridge and they raise 280 million pounds a year.
They also work with Children In Need and the NSPCC.
The club meets on the third Tuesday of the month. After lunch there is normally a speaker and several outings are arranged each year. In February it is a two day coach tour to the Cotswolds and in May, an evening visit for a meal at Halesowen College.
If any ladies or gentlemen are interested to come as a visitor or would like to be member, contact the secretary Pat Grainger on 01384 394442. You will be made very welcome.
Next month on February 21, Mike Sampson is talking about Norman Wisdom.
