MARY Stevens Hospice was the real winner during an annual charity golf day.
SDL Bigwood’s yearly golfing event was won by Wollaston-based Hayburn Rock Financial Planning, and traditionally the victors get to nominate the charity of their choice
Hayburn Rock’s team, comprising of Stephen Perks, Richard Chapman, Daryl Chance and Brian Flint chose the Stourbridge charity, which offers specialist care for people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, as well as dedicated support for their families and carers throughout the borough.
The event, held for the 14th year at Edgbaston Golf Club, raised £3,159.25 which was donated to the Hagley Road hospice.
Stephen Perks, managing director of Hayburn Rock, said: “We are pleased to nominate Mary Stevens Hospice as the recipient of this charitable donation.
“We have a close association with the charity and see first-hand the tremendous work that they do. Thanks also to SDL Bigwood who have made this donation possible by organising such a great event.”
Alex Winstanley, corporate engagement officer for Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “The support of organisations like Hayburn Rock and SDL Bigwood are the only reason we can offer our care to our patients and their families, 24 hours a day, seven-days a week, 365 days a year.
“Their generosity will make a huge difference to everyone here at the hospice, and we are proud and privileged to have been their charity of choice.”
