HIMLEY Hall is set to play host to an all-day summer festival which will raise funds for a top borough charity.

Summerfest, sponsored by Western Power Distribution, is being held by Stourbridge's Mary Stevens Hospice on Saturday July 1 and is expected to attract more than 8,000 visitors.

There will be live music throughout the day on the Signal 107 Main Stage, plus a large classic and performance car show, sponsored by Bodykraft, as well as a street food festival which has attracted interest and entries from exhibitors, caterers and foodies from across the country.

There will also be a large soft play area, fairground rides, a dog zone, and even an 8-seat F1 simulator giving petrol-heads chance to race the Monza Grand Prix - with a cash prize on offer to whoever records the fastest lap on the day.

Laura Millard, community engagement officer for Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “Hopefully, we've thought of everything and we can’t wait to put on a truly memorable day for the community which supports us so passionately.

"We must admit, the scale of the interest we've received is far beyond anything we could ever have hoped for and we've been blown away by the response to the event."

Charlotte Schofield, head of fundraising and lottery at Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “The way the community have taken to this event is just remarkable and seeing it go from an idea we'd like to try, to becoming the largest event we've ever done has been absolutely fantastic.

"There's nothing really like this, on this scale, in the area, and we can't speak highly enough of everyone at Himley Hall and all of our partners who have helped bring it to life and make the event a reality.

"It's going to be such a fantastic day, and we know the community will absolutely love it.”

Advance tickets for the event cost £8 for adults over 16, £4 for anyone under 16, free for children under two and £20 for a family ticket (two adults, two children).
