Broome WI were invited to join Wychbury WI for their June evening meeting to hear Frances Benton give a fascinating address on the history of pearls. Commencing with a short resume of her life’s passions for 18th century music, pearls and living in France her talk was full of interesting facts and despite the heat in the Hall kept us amused and informed throughout. There was a wonderful display of necklaces, earrings etc which could be purchased at the end of the evening, the money from which went to a charity for Durban Street Children in South Africa. It was an excellent evening and we were made very welcome by Wychbury members.

We look forward to our garden visit to Meadow Farm, Feckenham this month which is always a popular event. You have probably seen posters around the area ‘ Afternoon in Broome’ on July 22, this will be a busy day for us as we are catering for afternoon tea in Broome Village Hall, also our annual BBQ at the end of the month.

The next meeting in Broome Village Hall will be on September 20. The speaker for the evening is Alan Rogers and his talk is entitled ‘A Policeman’s Lot’. For further information contact broomewigmail.com
