THE Mayor of Dudley is inviting people to take part in his charity Winter Walk.

Anyone can join in the circular walk, which starts and finishes at the Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge, on Sunday January 28.

It will start at 10am and see walkers take in a seven-mile round trip at their own pace to the Prestwood area along the canal.

Councillor Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley, said: “After the Christmas festivities and over-indulgence lots of people start the new year with renewed enthusiasm to get fitter and slimmer.

“I hope people will come on the sponsored walk to help kick start their fitness campaigns and meanwhile help raise money for three worthy charities.”

All profits from the walk will be donated to the Mayor's charities - Dudley Mind, the YMCA and Dudley Alzheimer’s Society.

Dogs and children are welcome to take part.

People can register at www.mayorofdudley.org.uk/events-1/mayors-winter-walk/form. A sponsorship form will then be sent via email.

Queries can be emailed to mayoral ambassador Sue Randle on suzylimesrdc@hotmail.co.uk or people can call her on 07412 531924.

The entry fee is £1, payable on arrival on the day.

The winter walk was held for the first time last year by former mayor, Councillor Mohammed Hanif.

More than 100 people took part and more than £500 was raised for his chosen charities.
