CANAL enthusiast Roger Butler will be talking about an epic journey around the Midlands’ waterways that he took in the 1970s at the next Stourbridge Historical Society meeting.

The writer and photographer, who has photographing canals for many years and has produced a range of canal postcards and, will give a talk entitled ‘A Circumnavigation of the West Midlands - a Canal Journey in 1971’ at Stourbridge Town Hall on Thursday February 15 at 7.30pm.

Mr Butler, who has contributed to various countryside and canal magazines, will detail the journey he took around several Midland canals – taking in the River Severn and central Birmingham - covering 189 miles and 164 locks in two weeks.

The talk will start at 7.30pm in the Wollaston Room at the town hall.
