STOURBRIDGE funeral directors H Porter & Sons is to host a show about life's biggest taboo presented by a performer and burial ground owner dubbed the 'Mary Berry of death'.

'Outside the Box - A Live Show about Death' will be presented by Liz Rothschild in The Lounge at the Old Church House in the grounds of the South Road based funeral directors on Thursday May 10 at 7.30pm.

Featuring stories and music about life's final act - the show, which has been a hit at fringe festivals across the country, is presented by Liz who has been described by critics as the ‘Mary Berry of death'.

Lucy Porter, manager of H Porter & Sons, said the production promises to engage and entertain while challenging people's thinking about death.

She said: “Having seen this show earlier this year, I’m delighted to be able to play a part in bringing it to Stourbridge. Liz is both funny and moving and I’m sure people will find it really thought-provoking.

“Outside the Box gets us to consider and talk about dying, something we’re not particularly good at. As a funeral director, I see first hand the effects of our unwillingness to think about death until it happens to someone we love. By talking about it in advance - bereavement can be a different, less negative experience.”

Tickets for the not-for-profit show, which is currently touring the UK, cost £12 plus a small booking fee via Eventbrite www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/outside-the-box-with-liz-rothschild-a-live-show-about-death-tickets-45232675149.

A £2 donation will be made to Mary Stevens Hospice with each ticket sold.

The event, which comprises a performance followed by a discussion, heralds a series of activities taking place in Stourbridge as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week 2018, which runs from May 14 to 21.
