THE MICROLIGHT pilot killed in a crash in Stourton has been named as Wollaston man Andy Tollerton.

The 52-year-old father of two was confirmed dead at the scene after crashing into power cables at Barratt’s Coppice Farm, Bridgnorth Road, at around 6pm yesterday.

His devastated family, of Gerald Road, said Mr Tollerton was passionate about flying.

A family spokeswoman described him as “a devoted dad and husband” who died doing what he loved.

She said: “He was passionate about flying - it was all he ever wanted to do.

“They were a really happy family.

“It’s a very, very difficult time - they are absolutely devastated and in shock.”

Mr Tollerton’s wife Dawn is being comforted by family members. The couple have two teenage daughters Abby and Jennie.

Neighbour Kim Cockering, aged 52, said Mr Tollerton was “very popular” and “very genuine and happy go lucky.”

Staffordshire Police said they have passed the investigation into the cause of the collision on to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, with a specialist team examining the two-seater aircraft at the site today.
