RESIDENTS in Kinver and Stourton are being reminded they risk losing their chance to vote at the upcoming Police and Crime Commissioner elections if they have not signed up to the electoral register.

The latest plea comes as South Staffordshire Council’s annual canvassing programme draws to an end.

Registration forms have been sent to households across South Staffordshire and canvassers are now going door-to-door with final reminders for those yet to return their forms who risk losing their chance to vote in November - and risk getting a black mark on their credit rating.

Steve Winterflood, chief executive at South Staffordshire Council and electoral registration officer, said: “Credit reference agencies use the electoral roll, so if you’re not on it, your application for a credit card, a mortgage or even a mobile phone contract could get refused.”

Voters are also reminded they have until Wednesday October 31 to request a postal vote for November’s elections.

Anyone with queries about registering to vote can call South Staffordshire Council on 01902 696121, email elections@sstaffs.gov.uk or visit www.sstaffs.gov.uk/elections
