Following the summer break Chairman Mary Jones welcomed back 43 members and one visitor Pat Campbell.  After an excellent 3-course lunch speaker Pat Bickford from Moseley Old Hall talked about Tudor medicines. 

She dressed in a costume from 1600 as worn by the mistress of the house, who would have been expected to look after everyone's ailments.  Physicians were very expensive and so the local barber practised medical treatment and also surgery.
Apothecaries were both important and wealthy, hiring out leeches and dispensing some 2795 herbs and spices.  She displayed gruesome implements used by the dreaded toothpuller and physicians.

In November Chris. Kelly MP on local and parliamentary affairs speaks, December the Haven Singers will help celebrate Christmas and 2013 will begin with Geoff Tristram, an artist.  Coach outings are arranged each Spring and Autumn, the next being to Touchwood Shopping Centre, Solihull on November 23.  Meetings are held at the Kingfisher Hotel, Wallheath the second Friday each month 12pm for 12.30pm. departing 3 pm.
