WALL Heath Community Centre is launching a new indoor bowls club.

The Enville Road based centre is looking to recruit 15 to 20 players to form a new short mat bowls group.

To entice new players through their doors, free sessions will run on Monday afternoons throughout January.

Players of all ages and abilities are welcome and volunteers are invited to join the group to set up the room, make refreshments and to help to put mats away after each session.

Chairman Pam Horwill said: “We used to have a thriving bowls club at Wall Heath Community Centre and we are excited about getting this going again.

“We hope to be able to compete with neighbouring areas and also get an active social programme off the ground.”

The first free taster session will take place on Monday January 7 between 2pm and 4.30pm and every Monday in January thereafter.

From February there will be a cost of £2 per session - with free refreshments included.

Players will also be invited to take part in darts, cards and board games between turns.

All equipment will be provided.
