WALL Heath residents are being asked to “bear with the council” while substantial road surfacing works start today (January 28).

Work was set to start on resurfacing Enville Road, between the junction with Swindon Road and Chapel Street, this morning.

Resurface work will continue each day between 9.30am and 3.30pm until next Friday (February 5), with stop-go boards in operation to control traffic.

The start of the resurfacing work has been welcomed by Kingswinford North & Wall Heath Councillor Dave Tyler, who said he ensured the timing of the work came after the closure of Enville Road Quarry to ensure large goods vehicles could no longer damage the surface.

He added: “The state of the road and its constant use by quarry traffic has had a major effect on the surface but it would have been pointless resurfacing the road during the lifetime of the quarry with so much goods vehicle traffic.

“Hopefully the timing of the roadworks will allow the new surface to last longer and save local taxpayers money.

“I hope residents will welcome the new road surface and bear with the council for the week it takes.”
