A DRIVER in Wall Heath had a lucky escape last night (Monday, April 4) after crashing into a tree.

West Midlands Fire Service were alerted to the incident, which saw a silver Toyota hit a tree in Wolverhampton Road, near the junction with Holbeach Lane, about 11.39pm.

The fire service sent two crews to the scene, from Brierley Hill and Dudley, where the firefighters made the car safe.

The five occupants of the car were given precautionary checks by West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics who were also dispatched to the scene.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We sent an ambulance and a paramedic support officer to the scene but no-one had to be taken to hospital.

"There were five occupants in the car but there were no injuries, and everybody was checked over and given advice before being discharged."
