YOUNG rockers are going old school for a gig in Wall Heath to make fundraising a thing of the past.

Teen indie band Jump the Shark (JTS) are teaming up with 40-somethings The Boys Next Door for a show at The Kingfisher Country Club, Kidderminster Road, to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

While JTS are starting out on their rock career, Boys Next Door, who supported Pop Will eat Itself and The Wonder Stuff, have been around since the 80s and are looking back over decades of gigging.

Boys Next Door guitarist Chris Luty said: "We never really made the big time. We were offered the chance of a lifetime opportunity to go on a US tour with the legendary and influential rock act Diamond Head, but our mums wouldn’t let us.

“We have booked a band of brilliantly-gifted teenagers, who are now of the age that we will all be reminiscing. It’s going to be a great night and for two very worthwhile causes.”

The Nostalgia Beats Machine will play hits from the 80s at the show on Friday September 14, which aims to attract ex-pupils from the former Penzer Street School.

Advance tickets cost £7 and are available from The Kingfisher box office on 01384 273763 or visit www.thekingfisherclub.co.uk.
