WOLLASTON pupils have got creative and warned speedy drivers to slow down when they took part in a Walk to School poster competition.

Youngsters from St James' C of E Primary School were encouraged to design posters by developers Taylor Wimpey, as part of its commitment to supporting the communities in which it builds.

The company, currently working on the nearby Doulton Brook development, crowned Eva-Mae Marsh as the winner and gave her gift vouchers worth £25.

Headteacher Sally Sixsmith added: “We encourage the children to walk to school to promote a healthier lifestyle and to reduce traffic outside the school. "We were delighted to accept Taylor Wimpey’s challenge to design posters and were really pleased with pupils’ designs.”

All entries have been put on display outside the Kingsway school.

Elaine Taylor, Taylor Wimpey's, regional sales and marketing director, said: “Walking to school can make a real difference to children’s health and wellbeing, but we understand why some parents have concerns about traffic and speeding.

“Our poster campaign was a great way to get the message across to drivers outside the school that they need to be considerate and slow down, and I’d like to congratulate all of the children who took part.”
