A WOLLASTON hair salon is celebrating after being named as finalists in not just one, but three national hairdressing awards.

Tim Scott-Wright @ The Hair Surgery, which opened just over a year ago, has been nominated for the best new salon at the Creative Head ‘Most Wanted Awards’ and best newcomer at the British Hairdressing Business Awards.

As well as the team nomination, 21-year-old Brook Evans has been shortlisted for a British Hairdressing Business Award in the junior of the year category.

The Hair Surgery is no stranger to awards after picking up the title of best regional salon at Hair Magazine's 2015 Cut Awards.

Proprietor Tim Scott-Wright, who has already enjoyed a wave of personal success, having been voted Midlands Hairdresser of the Year on three occasions, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be in the finals of these amazing awards.

“We have worked really hard this year to produce a salon that meets our client’s needs and we are delighted that it is being recognised within the industry.”

The Amblecote hairdresser and former Ridgewood High School student opened his salon in the former doctor's surgery in Meriden Avenue at the start of 2014.

Brook, who has been training at the salon for the past eight months, said she is still in shock after her nomination.

She said: “I started a career as a photographer and realised that actually it was hairdressing that I was passionate about, so I have taken a slight step backwards to pursue the career I really want.

“I can’t believe that I am through to the finals of Junior of The Year. I am still a bit in shock.”

Tim and his team will now have to wait to find out if they have been successful, with the Most Wanted Awards taking place on September 7 and the British Hairdressing Business Awards following on September 14.
