A BRIERLEY Hill born author has just released her second novel which is currently available on Kindle.

Based around the life of her father, trade union activist James Mason, Frankie Sheppeck’s novel is part of a trilogy, entitled ‘Black by Day and Red by Night’.

Set during the Second World War, the story revolves around the emerging trade union movement in the Black Country.

Frankie, who now lives in Norfolk, released the first part of her trilogy back in February and is now close to completing the trilogy.

She said: “I did approach a number of publishers, but no one has taken me up on the book as yet.

“Although born in Brierley Hill, we moved to South Road in Stourbridge and then later to Birmingham, although I still have a great deal of family in the Wollaston area.

“I researched the book thoroughly and went to the Black Country Living Museum where I was delighted to find the Cradley Heath Institute, which my father worked for.”

Frankie’s book is available to buy now on Amazon for £3.25.
