Wollaston Gardeners Guild

The members held their 73rd AGM meeting at Stourbridge Institute on February 15 which was chaired by Adam Greathead. He opened the meeting by welcoming both existing, new members,

visitors, and said he had enjoyed his year as chairman, and thanked everyone for their assistance.

The president Eric Southall addressed the meeting and said The guild had enjoyed another very successful year, highlights being the presidents plant sale, which raised funds for "Crossroads Dudley", the annual show, and various social events including day trips, for which Eric thanked Jim Baker and Pat Hassall, He also extended his thanks to the numerous members who work throughout the year in the background helping to make The guild the success that it is, people like Una Langley for running the raffle for more years than she cares to remember, Gerald her husband who tirelessly organises The guilds trading shed, and many more, Eric also said he was looking forward to the forthcoming Annual Presentation Supper at Blakedown Golf Club on March 12 and hoped everyone would enjoy this.

The guild secretary Liz Hathway reminded members of the guilds success in winning the Morgan Shield Quiz competition, and thanked all who participated.

All the officers were re-elected en block, the members then enjoyed a general knowledge quiz compiled by Fred Willetts and presented by Tom Thompson, followed by a lovely buffet provided by ladies of the guild.

There was no monthly competition.

The next meeting will be held on March 21 and this will be a talk on "Alpines for everyone" presented by Diane and Rob Cole
