LORD Sugar’s latest ‘Apprentice’ was the guest of honour at a Wollaston school’s annual presentation evening.

Joseph Valente, who won a £250,000 investment on the BBC One reality business show, presented prizes and also gave an inspiration speech at Ridgewood High School’s recent event.

At the event, which celebrates student effort and achievement, Joseph reunited with his former head of year, Ridgewood’s assistant headteacher Steve Tivey.

Mr Tivey was interviewed for the popular TV show as he taught Joseph when he was at high school in Peterborough 11 years ago.

During the evening, guests heard speeches from both Mr Valente and the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Mohammed Hanif.

Mr Valente also spoke about the journey to winning Lord Sugar’s investment in his plumbing and heating business Impra-Gas, while students especially enjoyed anecdotes from his time in the boardroom.

They were also delighted to have the opportunity to ask questions, as well as pose for photographs – and selfies – with the young entrepreneur.

A spokesperson for the school said: “A very enjoyable evening was had by all and the feedback from Ridgewood students was very definitely ‘You’re Hired Mr Valente’.”
