The Cobden Street Methodist Church carol service is at 7.30pm on December 6. Many members are performing, but it was suggested that the congregation may require boosting.Federation carol service is taking place at St Thomas' Church, Stourbridge at 2.15pm on December 10.

The speaker for the evening was Ann Hartley, a Severn Valley Railway volunteer, who regaled us with details of the various jobs she was required to do during her day. The history of the railway spans 150 years and is run by an army of volunteers and enthusiastic railway engineers. It is a very popular and successful business, receiving over 200,000 visitors every year.

It was interesting to learn of the many famous visitors the railway has received over the years, and how it has featured in both television and films.

Competition winners were Sandra Oliver and Elizabeth Grove, while raffle prizes went to Sue Carless, Jill Dunn and Jean Latham.

The chairman thanked the refreshment ladies, Ann Powell and Ann Turner.

The next meeting incorporates the Christmas party and will be held at 7.30pm on December 13.
