The members held their monthly meeting at Stourbridge Institute on 21st November which was chaired by Adam Greathead. He opened the meeting by welcoming both existing, new members, visitors, and the speaker for the night Roger Umpleby.

The President Eric Southall addressed the meeting and thanked Pat Hassall for organising the Presidents lunch at Churchill & Blakedown Golf Club on October 23, which was enjoyed by many of the members.

The speaker for the evening Roger Umpleby, who is a professional entomologist, presented his talk "How to love lily beatles and admire slugs" and despite the title most members weren't really prepared to go that far, however the talk, with some stunning close up slides, gave a fascinating under the microscope look at a host of things in our gardens, which we battle with for most of the year, and just gave their side of the story, some by feeding on other insects and aphids are good for our gardens. This was an excellent talk enjoyed by all the members.

Adam thanked Roger for a most interesting talk, and the members responded in the usual manner.

Adam closed the meeting, wished everyone a safe journey home, and hoped everyone had enjoyed the evening.

The next meeting will be held on December 19 which will be a Festive Social Evening, with light refreshments.

The group meets on the third Monday of each month at the Stourbridge Institute at 7 for 7.30p.m, when all visitors are welcome. For further details phone 01384 828654
