Wollaston Gardeners Guild

The members held their monthly meeting at Stourbridge Institute on 20th March which was chaired by Adam Greathead. He opened the meeting by welcoming both existing, new members, visitors, and the speaker for the night Graham Short. He added that he was pleased with the quality of the spring flowers, and other produce on the monthly show bench, and also said now is the time to feed snowdrops and hellibores with tomato fertiliser to improve next years flowering.

The president Eric Southall addressed the meeting and reminded members about the presidents plant sale on May 14/15, and asked members to bring along any spare plants they have, the proceeds this year to the White House Dudley.

The speaker for the evening Graham Short, started his talk by saying, I think you will be surprised by what you see, and was not wrong. Graham is a micro artist, and among his amazing creations is the Lords Prayer, engraved on a pinhead, he showed stunning images of countless creations like words engraved on the sharp edge of a razor blade, and many more. The amazing skills displayed, left members astounded, and wondering how such intricate work is possible. Details of Grahams work can be seen on his website.

Adam closed the meeting, wished everyone a safe journey home, and hoped everyone had enjoyed the evening.

The next meeting will be held on April 24. The speaker will be Val Bourne whose talk is entitled "Spring cottage gardening with the best beloved".

The group meets on the third Monday of each month at The Stourbridge Institute at 7 for 7.30pm, when all visitors are welcome. For further details phone 01384 828654.
