A HAIR-RAISING councillor is sporting a green and red haircut for charity after a poll to change the colour of his barnet.

Cradley and Wollescote Labour Councillor Richard Body was relieved that voters did not force him to dye his hair blue in the poll which raised money for St Peter’s Church and Homer Hill Park.

Cllr Body said: “Thankfully Tory blue and Liberal Democrat yellow came well down in the public vote but green and red were neck and neck so I thought I’d sport a two tone cut.”

Cllr Body joked the red was for Labour and the green was for his love of Homer Hill Park in Cradley.

He said: “A few people have avoided eye contact in the street but I only have to put up with a colourful haircut until the weekend when it will be shaved off for charity.”

Cllr Body will be raising money at St Peter’s Church in Cradley on Saturday at 11am.

Cllr Body said: “People can still donate any amount of small change to a good cause and can bring money along on Saturday “Refreshments will be available and all profits going towards park and churches children's orchard, I’d like to thank everyone who has donated and promise all money will be spent directly on the two projects.”

He added: “I can't give a total yet as money is still been collected, but I doubt I will raise as much as Jessie J shaving her hair off for Comic Relief.”
