BLACK Country Bowls Club are bidding to boost their ranks by staging an open day on Saturday (June 29) in the hope of encouraging more people to take up the game.

They are one of the few flat green bowls clubs in the area and are appealing for players of all ages to join them.

The club is situated by the tennis courts behind Wollescote Hall in Stevens Park, Pedmore.

Members can play two or three afternoons and three evenings a week throughout the summer months.

The Black Country Bowls Club already have more than 60 members on their books who take part in social bowling and other organised events.

And the club have also invested in sets of various sized balls to accommodate everyone who wishes to train.
