A CANCER survivor from Wollescote will conquer Snowdon to raise money for research into the disease.
Ivor Simpkins, aged 68, will lace up his hiking boots and tackle the nine mile Llanberis path of the Welsh mountain alongside his 23-year-old granddaughter Katy Stanaway in September.
He said he chose to raise funds for a charity close to his heart, Cancer Research UK.
Mr Simpkins said: “I had kidney cancer eight or nine years ago and was in and out of hospital for five years before I was discharged.
“My brother-in-law died of cancer and other members of my family and friends have had it. I just want to raise as much as I can.”
